Elementary Awards
STRAIGHT A HONOR ROLL – 1ST – 6TH
GRADE
To
be eligible for Straight A Honor Roll, students must be enrolled by October 1
through the end of the School year.
Students who enroll second semester will not qualify.
Students
must achieve straight A’s (a 4.0 GPA) on both semester report cards, in every
area, including citizenship, obedience, work habits, and attitude. Trophies and certificates will be awarded to
students who qualify in this category.
A HONOR ROLL – 1ST – 6TH GRADE
To be eligible for first semester A Honor Roll,
students must have been enrolled and in attendance in Faith Baptist Schools by
October 1. To be eligible for second
semester A Honor Roll, students must have been enrolled and in
attendance within the first three weeks of the start of the second semester. Students
must achieve straight A’s (a 4.0 GPA) on either semester report card in every
area, including citizenship, obedience, work habits, and attitude. Certificates will be awarded to students who
earn straight A’s for first or second semester.
A-B HONOR ROLL
– 1ST – 6TH GRADE
To be eligible for first semester A-B Honor Roll, students
must have been enrolled and in attendance in Faith Baptist Schools by October
1. To be eligible for second semester A-B
Honor Roll, students must have been enrolled and in attendance within the first
three weeks of the start of the second semester.
Students
must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher on either semester report card to qualify for A-B
Honor Roll. The overall citizenship
grade will be included in ascertaining the average for A-B Honor Roll. Certificates will be awarded to students who
qualify for A-B Honor Roll either or both semesters.
B HONOR ROLL – 1ST – 6TH GRADE ONLY
To be eligible for first semester B Honor Roll, students
must have been enrolled and in attendance in Faith Baptist Schools by October
1. To be eligible for second semester B
Honor Roll, students must have been enrolled and in attendance within the first
three weeks of the start of the second semester.
Students
must achieve a 3.0 GPA on either semester report card to qualify for B Honor
Roll. Certificates will be awarded to students who qualify for B Honor Roll
either or both semesters.
ATTENDANCE AWARD –GRADES K3-6
To be eligible for the Attendance Award, students must not
have been absent or tardy for the entire year.
Students who start School after September 14, 2009, do not qualify for the
Attendance Award.
MERIT AWARD – GRADE 6
ONLY
To be eligible for the Merit Award, students must receive
five or fewer demerits for a semester.
Certificates will be awarded to students who qualify for either or both
semesters.
SPEECH AWARDS – GRADES 1-6
Speech trophies will be awarded to students in each first-
through sixth-grade classroom who place first through fourth place in the
annual speech contest. Ribbons will be
awarded to the top-ten speech winners in each first- through sixth-grade
classroom.
SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE –
GRADE 6
To qualify for this award, a student must not have
accumulated more than six B’s in the first through sixth grades. Also, the student can have no more than two
B’s in a year. A student must have been
enrolled in Faith Baptist Schools for six full years (grades 1-6).
MARGARET RASMUSSEN
FOUNDER’S AWARD—GRADE 6
This award is presented to the
scholastic excellence recipient with the highest grades (95% or above) in Faith Baptist
Elementary grades 1-6 upon his graduation from sixth grade. A student must have
been enrolled in Faith Baptist Schools for six full years (grades 1-6). The recipient of this award will be given a
full year’s tuition (minus book fees) and registration for the seventh grade at Faith Baptist Schools.
Jr. & Sr. High Awards & Honors
HONORS ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- For the following honors, only course work taken
during the regular school year at Faith Baptist Schools will qualify. Students must take a minimum of twenty-five
credits (five classes of five credits each) per semester in order to qualify
for any honor roll. Some electives will
not count toward honor roll.
STRAIGHT A
HONOR ROLL (2 Semesters)
- To be eligible for Straight A Honor Roll,
students must be enrolled for the complete year, no later than October 1,
through the last day of school, and must receive straight a 4.0 GPA or higher
at the at the end of BOTH semester periods (January and June).
- A trophy and certificate will be presented only to
students who achieve a 4.0 GPA or higher both semesters.
A HONOR ROLL (1 Semester)
- To be eligible for first semester A Honor
Roll, students must have been enrolled and in attendance in Faith Baptist
Schools by October 1. To be eligible for
second semester A Honor Roll, students must have been enrolled and in
attendance within the first three weeks of the start of second semester.
- Students achieving a 4.0 GPA or higher on either
semester report card (January or June) will qualify for the A Honor
Roll.
- Certificates will be awarded to students who earn a
4.0 GPA or higher for first or second semester.
A-B HONOR ROLL AND B HONOR ROLL
- To be eligible for first semester A-B or B
Honor Roll, students must have been enrolled and in attendance in Faith Baptist
Schools by October 1. To be eligible for
second semester A-B or B Honor Roll, students must have been
enrolled and in attendance within the first three weeks of the start of the
second semester.
- Students achieving a 3.5 GPA or higher at
semester’s end (January or June) will qualify for the A-B Honor
Roll. Students achieving at least a 3.0
GPA or higher at semester’s end (January or June) will qualify for B
Honor Roll.
- Certificates will be awarded to students who
qualify for either Honor Roll for one or two semesters.
MERIT AWARD
- Students who receive five or fewer demerits for a
semester will be given a merit award for either or both semesters at the end of
the year. This honor will appear on a student’s high school transcript.
GRADE-POINT
AVERAGE
- Physical education grades will be included in a
student’s grade-point average.
- Graduating
seniors who meet the following grade-point requirements for grades nine through
twelve, NOT ten through twelve,
will qualify for bronze and gold honors: Bronze – 3.2 through 3.59, Gold – 3.6
through 4.0
- Faith Baptist
Schools uses a weighted grade-point average system in which students are
awarded an extra quality point for an A, B, or C grade in
an UC Honors or Advanced Placement course.
VALEDICTORIAN AND
SALUTATORIAN
- In order to qualify for Valedictorian or Salutatorian,
a student must be enrolled in Faith Baptist Schools from grades nine through
twelve, having completed eight semesters.
Valedictorian and Salutatorian status is determined by grades received
in grades nine through twelve, NOT ten through twelve. Geometry and Algebra I
are included in the GPA calculation, even though these courses may have been
taken in junior high.
- The Valedictorian and Salutatorian candidates must
take a fourth year math course (Statistics, Pre-calculus, AP Calculus, AP
Statistics) and upper-level science (AP Chemistry, Chemistry, or Physics). In addition, a candidate for either of these
honors must take at least four
Honors or AP classes.
- High school courses taken at schools other than
Faith Baptist will not be considered in a student’s standing for Valedictorian
or Salutatorian. Only pre-approved AP
equivalent college courses which are NOT offered at Faith Baptist will be
weighted and considered in the reported GPA and Valedictorian and Salutatorian
honors.
- Physical education grades will be included when
averaging a student’s grade-point average for honors or class standing.
CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION
- Faith Baptist Schools is a member of the California
Scholarship Federation. Membership in
this honors organization indicates the approval of our courses as meeting the
high admission requirements of the University
of California.
- Students are eligible for membership by achieving a
specified number of A’s or B’s in designated academic
courses. Awards are presented at the
ninth- and twelfth-grade graduations to students earning membership for a
minimum of four semesters during grades seven through nine or ten through
twelve.
- The California Scholarship Federation will not
accept summer school credits for membership.
Also, junior-high and high-school courses taken during summer school
will not apply toward our Honor Roll, CJSF, or CSF.
SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE—TWELFTH GRADE
- In order to be eligible, a student must be enrolled
in Faith Baptist Schools for grades 9-12, for 8 semesters. Students with at least a 4.0 cumulative GPA
for all 8 semesters, 9th-12th grades, will be awarded the Scholastic Excellence
Award. at graduation
SCHOLASTIC EXCELLENCE—NINTH GRADE
- In order to be eligible, a student must be enrolled
in Faith Baptist Schools for grades seven through nine, for 6 semesters. Students with a 4.0 cumulative GPA for all 6
semesters, 7th-9th grades, will be awarded the Scholastic Excellence Award and
free tuition for 10th grade at Faith Baptist Schools.
FOUNDER’S AWARD—NINTH GRADE
- This award is presented to the valedictorian of the
ninth-grade class upon his graduation. A
student must have been enrolled in Faith Baptist Schools for three full years
(grades seven through nine). The
recipient of this award will be given a full year’s tuition (minus book fees) and registration
for the tenth grade at Faith Baptist Schools.
SPEECH AWARDS—7th - 12th GRADE
- Speech trophies will be awarded to students in each
seventh- through twelfth-grade class who place first through fourth place in
the annual speech contest.
