Students must be dressed in clothing which is traditional, conservative, and appropriate for school/camp. Clothing which is oversized, slovenly, rock-inspired, (heavy metal, rap, etc.), or unisex is not permitted. Hair styles are to conform to these general guidelines.
Anything resembling gang clothing is not to be worn at school/camp (i.e., baggy pants or baggy shirts, “grunge” look, hats, caps, etc.).
If, in the opinion of the Administration or faculty, a student’s overall appearance (hair style, clothing, etc.) does not adhere to the scriptural philosophy and standards of Faith Baptist Schools, your child will be required to make the necessary changes. All students must maintain school dress standards up to and including the last day of school/camp.
Any student failing to meet the dress code or hair requirements may not be allowed to attend class. If this were to occur, there would be both a disciplinary and academic penalty for such a situation.
Students may not wear the following:
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. For dress violations, students/campers will be sent immediately to the School Office to call his/her parents to have the proper clothing brought to the School. In a case where parents are unable to attend to their child, the student/camper will remain in the School Office for the remainder of the day.
GIRLS must present a wholesome, feminine appearance.
DRESS – All girls must wear either a dress, skirt, culottes, skorts, or full shorts with a shirt. Girls (K4-8th grade only) may wear full shorts to Summer School and Day Camp. Girls who attend senior-high Summer School must wear dresses or skirts to Summer School. Pants, mini-skirts, pant suits, bicycle shorts, or capri pants OF ANY KIND may not be worn. No tank tops, spaghetti-strap tops, tube tops, halter tops, or tops which show the midriff may be worn. Sundresses may be worn only if a shirt is worn underneath. Clothing must not be tight. Dresses and tops should not be low cut. If the shape of the clothing accentuates a body part, it is too tight. Slits must be sewn to the middle of the knee. Printed T-shirts may be worn; however, T-shirts which look like undershirts or which have sayings, pictures, or words which are inconsistent with the philosophies of Faith Baptist Schools may not be worn.
Dress and short length requirements
Shorts that cling to your legs, such as but not limited to pedal pushers, bermuda shorts, and capris, may not be worn. All shorts must be full, loose-fitting on the leg (at least 4 excess inches of material), such as that of the Faith Baptist P.E. short. Shorts must not cling to the bottom or leg in any way.
Only one-piece swimming suits will be worn. NO bikinis will be permitted at any time.
JEWELRY– Bracelets measuring no more than two inches on the wrist may be worn. “Noisy” bracelets are not to be worn to school/camp.
MAKE-UP/NAIL POLISH – Black nail polish may not be worn.
SHOES – Tasteful, color-coordinating, athletic shoes, sandals, or flip flops may be worn. Shoes must be laced and tied (if applicable), and they must not be a style which the administration deems inappropriate for school (hiking or combat boots, gang-related, etc.). Socks should be worn with athletic shoes.
JACKETS/COATS/SWEATSHIRTS – All outerwear must be in keeping with the philosophy of the school (i.e., slovenly, oversized, rock-inspired, or gang-related outerwear may not be worn).
BOYS must present a clean masculine appearance.
HAIR – I Corinthians 11:14 teaches that it is a shame for a man to have long hair. At Faith Baptist Schools, all boys must have short haircuts which are tapered on the top, back, and sides. Hair is not to be shaved (not less than a “two” setting on the hairclippers) or shaped in such a way that it would not present an even, gradually tapered look. Braids, corn rows, and spiked hair would be inconsistent with this standard and are not permitted. Hair is not to be disproportionately longer on the top than on the sides (“step” haircut, extra long on top and slicked back). Boys may not change their hair color in any way. If a boy has changed his hair color, his hair must be changed back to its original color. Please refrain from any rock-inspired (rap, MTV, etc.) hair styles. Sideburns must be neatly trimmed, and they can be no longer than the bottom of the ear opening. Junior- and senior-high students/campers must be clean shaven.
DRESS – Boys (K4-8th grade only) may wear Bermuda-length shorts or long pants to Summer School and Day Camp. Boys who attend senior-high Summer School must wear long pants to Summer School. Shorts and pants must have legs which are in a traditional (not baggy), classic cut. Tank tops may not be worn. Printed T-shirts may be worn, but T-shirts which look like undershirts or which have sayings, pictures, or words which are inconsistent with the philosophies of Faith Baptist Schools may not be worn.
JEWELRY– Earrings,
bracelets, or necklaces may not be worn by boys.
SHOES – Tasteful, color-coordinating,
athletic shoes, sandals, or flip flops may be worn. Shoes must be laced and tied (if applicable),
and they must not be a style which the Administration deems inappropriate for
school (hiking or combat boots, gang-related, etc.). Socks should be worn with athletic shoes.
